Firstly, we love our Chinese spring rolls.
That first crunch into the crispy filo pastry followed by the tangy savoury taste of the vegetables and duck filling is mouth-watering.
But what if you don`t like duck, or you are a vegetarian?
Are there any vegetarian spring rolls available that are worth the money?
Can you really spend less than £3 and get a tasty vegetarian alternative to duck spring rolls?

Well, when we spotted these Marks & Spencer No Duck Spring Rolls on the supermarket shelf today, we thought, let`s give them a try.
We wanted to see if Soya protein can replace Duck and still be a delicious Spring Roll.

To begin with, the spring rolls before we cooked them looked very appetising.
About 50mm or 2 inches in length, they are about a three bite size so all good so far.
Cooking was simplicity itself.
Place on an oven proof tray on gas mark 6 (approximately 200 Deg C) for 20 minutes.
And that is it.
Remove them from the oven and place on a serving dish.
If you are like us and love a spicy dipping sauce, grab something like a sweet chilli sauce and get ready for the taste test.
We chose the Blue Dragon Sweet Chilli sauce but it really is up to you.
Just go for your favourite dipping sauce.
Now a few words of warning.
The contents of the spring rolls are very hot when they are straight from the oven, so take care when biting into one.
So, what did we think of the M&S No Duck Spring Rolls?

We will get straight to it, they were fabulous!
If someone hadn`t told us before we tasted them and just said, “here, try some of these duck spring rolls”, we wouldn`t have known anything different.
The outer pastry was lovely and crispy with just the right amount of oily moisture and the inside contained a mixture of vegetables and, if we hadn`t known differently, what looked like duck pieces in with the veggies.
Dipped into the sweet chilli sauce, they were gorgeous.

So, if you are looking for a delicious vegetarian alternative to duck spring rolls, get you self along to M&S and pick up some of their No Duck Spring Rolls.
We loved them!
